Kinoti was a friend of mine. We were in the same class in high school.
The students were admitted according to the marks they had scored during their primary education examinations.
The form one admission list was pinned on the notice board for everybody to see. Being a competitive student, I checked what each student in our class had scored. I wanted to see how many students I had defeated and how many were cleverer than me.
There were 123 students in total. Kinoti, my friend was among the last 5 student and I was among the first 20. This assured me that Kinoti is never a threat to me. Simply, he can never defeat me.
During our first term, many things were happening and happening quick.
Within no time, we were sitting for the first term exams. Surprisingly, Kinoti defeated me in every subject. If this was not enough, he was the best in the whole class. This was a shock for me.
I decided to monitor and see what Kinoti did differently from other students.
In the second term, I monitored every thing that Kinoti did.
I noted a pattern in the way Kinoti studied. He woke up early before everybody else and slept late. The first thing in the morning, he planned for the day. He planned for all the free time he had i.e.break time, lunch time, dinner time and prep time.
I noted another thing, although we were seat mates, Kinoti was not a very close friend to me. Instead, Kinoti was a very close to the best student in the class that was ahead of us. Kinoti modeled his life against this best student.
Kinoti was slow to understand many things. He was slow in grasping concepts. However, Kinoti never got discouraged, he studied slowly at his own pace. Although, he took longer to understand facts, he scored very high marks in exams.
He had discovered what really matters most in KCSE examination system. He had noted that the exams only come after four years, not immediately after taking the lesson. The system where you are examined after full four years is ideal for anyone to pass. It offers a student, even the slowest learners humble time to study at their own pace and pass their exams.
Kinoti employed the above tactics, passed his KCSE exams and joined the University to do a very prestigious course.
Personal Note
Identify the four tactics that Kinoti used to help him pass KCSE examinations although he was a slow learner use them and you will succeed.
